SINGLE REVIEW: Deep by ARXX
Get ready to be swept away by Brighton duo ARXX's latest offering - a shimmering slice of gritty, danceable rock with a glossy alt-pop edge. Deep sees the pair crashing into 2021 with their signature infectious rock sounds and a blaring chorus just waiting to swim around in your head on repeat.

Following last year’s bittersweet single Call Me Crazy, and having recently reached over one million streams on 2019's hard-hitting Iron Lung, ARXX's Hanni Pidduck and Clara Townsend are returning with the firey attitude that fans have come to know and love.
Deep maintains the catchy pop sensibilities of Call Me Crazy, fused with the commanding rock drive that we love in bands like Bang Bang Romeo and Lucia & The Best Boys. An empowering ode to leaving behind all your anxieties and chasing what you want, this latest single oozes confidence, propelled by a seething energy as it builds and swells into a massive festival-ready chorus, with electrifying harmonies that you'll be singing along to in no time.
With its punchy drums, sharp riffs, and glistening synths, Deep adds an electronic-driven musicality to ARXX’s trademark powerhouse rock, proving the duo's ability to consistently develop their sound and dive further into their innovative musical capabilities. Showcasing Hanni’s powerful vocal range - drifting between a sensuous rawness and a soaring, honey-sweet vulnerability - and Clara’s immense pummelling beats, the new track emphasises that ARXX refuse to play by the rules and settle into one genre with this anthemic alt-pop banger.

Forever surprising us with their innovative song-writing and eclectic, ARXX continue to experiment with the expectation of what they 'should' be as women and as artists. Produced by Steven Ansell and mastered by Katie Tavini (Pillow Queens, Arlo Parks), Deep cements ARXX as a band on the rise, ready to take on 2021 headfirst. And you just know that we at the Coven will be eagerly awaiting whatever they bring us next!
Having been making music together since 2017, they’re a true force to be reckoned with live, and have played gigs and festivals across the UK and Europe, including support slots with the likes of Dream Wife, Petrol Girls, and PINS. Fingers crossed we get to see a bit of that fierce ARXX energy live later this year!
To coincide with the release of Deep, ARXX will be sharing a special remix EP, featuring the likes of Dream Wife’s Alice Go, Anna from Brighton’s LIME, and Linda Buratto, co-founder of Girls Rock London.
